Talkdep for Major Betting Tips

Newbies who play Cyberdunk should definitely check out the Jeff the Bookie thread on Talkdep.com. Most people, including some of the players who play for my team, don't bet every day, and I've found that they're way behind in equipment whereas those who do and bet wisely using the Jeff the Bookie thread on Talkdep.com already have maximum equipment.

With the new trainers, some of which cost as much as $90,000 for 3 days, it's essential that high-yield bets are made everyday in order to stay competitive and excel. Earlier this season, bets sort of turned sour and unpredictable, but a few days of solid bets easily recouped the lost money and generated a lot more.

Strong Start for Filcosplay Freelancers Xp

December 10, 2007 :: Cyberdunk

Makati (AP) -- The Filcosplay Freelancers Xp remains undefeated this season, beating all comers handily including their sister team, the original Filcosplay Freelancers in a Day 2 Showdown. Furthermore, they have managed to go undefeated in the Philippine Cup and the newly-founded Ancestorian Cup so far.

Their play has been so exceptional at the beginning of the season that every single player on the roster has made it into the division MVP race including 6 of their 8 players being listed in the Top 10. "Team cohesion, active participation, and teamwork are the reasons why the team is doing so well this season," the team manager and player Kero Chan noted. "We laid the groundwork last season and this season we're poised achieve even greater milestones.

When asked whether he would keep his line-up, Kero Chan answered, "The team is very efficient as it is now and I don't see any major roster changes in the future. Recently, we traded Ariel Hoggsworthy for Pedro Penduko of the FC Classics and the results were beneficial for everyone involved. I think our core right now is very strong, and we have very effective role-players that can make a huge impact coming off the bench."

Not surprisingly, the Filcosplay Freelancers Xp is first in their division with a commanding 14-0 record followed by their sister club, Filcosplay Freelancers, who sports an impressive 13-1 record.

Talkdep Abuzz with Friendly Games

Recently, the hot topic in Talkdep.com has been Friendly Games during off days. My own view of the topic is as follows:

Betting on friendly games for CDP and in-game cash is fine, but I feel it should be governed by the following rules to be clear and to avoid exploits from happening:

1) Bets are straight up (which means odds are always 1 to 1 - money is basically just transfered from loser to winner). The reason for this would be to avoid rigged friendly games that people exploit just to make money or CDP. Of course, they could rig it one way in order to transfer cash or CDP to another team though, but at least it's just 1 to 1 and with no additional profit.

2) Only the teams involved can bet on the match and both teams must bet the same amount or the bet is canceled.

3) Friendly games eat up Stamina like regular games, but also earn stadium income. The team who is home should be agreed upon by both teams involved in the friendly game.

The way I see this working is like a contract offer. One team sends the Exhibition Game offer (I like the term Exhibition Game rather than Friendly Game, but whatever). He stipulates things like who gets home court and the amount of CDP and in-game cash to be placed in a bet. The other team manager can accept or decline then send a counter-offer.

Here's a summary of possible Exhibition Game Options:

1) Home Court (who gets the stadium income - optionally, income could be split as well)
2) Cash Gamble (basically how much each team puts on the line for the game)
3) CDP Gamble (same as above but with CDP instead of cash)
4) Point Handicap (basically one team could spot another team X number of points to make it more competitive)
5) No Foul Outs (an option where basically foul outs are removed for that Exhibition Game)
6) Shootout (first team to hit 100 points wins)

These options make the game more interesting. Perhaps one team is confident enough to give another team a handicap and still feels that they can win and is willing to put CDP on the line or perhaps two teams want to see who has the better offense. These options makes all of these things possible.

Games are then played out in the same time slot as a regular game in the home team country's time slot (makes sense since they're playing in that court).

Filcosplay Freelancers Xp Rides to the Top

November 9, 2007 :: Cyberdunk

Makati (AP) -- Ever since taking over the reins of the new expansion team, Filcosplay Freelancers Xp, playing coach Kero Chan has implemented a new, high-octane offense that's led to some startling results. Stressing unselfish play and blistering fast breaks, Filcosplay Freelancers Xp has buried opponents with tremendous leads that have left their opponents in the dust.

How effective is this strategy? In the last 13 games, the Filcosplay Freelancers Xp has scored an average of 146 points per game while allowing only an average of 60 points per game - that's an astounding winning margin of 86 points per game! "We just pull out all the stops from the get-go," Chan explained. "From the first quarter to the last, we give it our all, and the results have been great so far."

Chan's own play has benefited from this strategy as well. He's averaged 30.7 points, 1 steal, 8.2 assists, 5.7 offensive rebounds, and 10.2 defensive rebounds since moving to the Filcosplay Freelancers Xp. Other players have also stepped up their game. In fact, Kero Chan, Noir Valentine, and Retsuya Aoyama have all made it into the running for the Division MVP, with Erlou Maturan soon to make the list as well.

At this point, the
Filcosplay Freelancers Xp seems to be unstoppable, holding a solid 2-game lead over the second-placed Cadiz Hounds with a record of 36 wins and 4 losses. At this rate, they're the heavy favorites to stay perched at first place until the end of the season. "We should still remain vigilant," Chan warns. "The season ain't over yet, and we don't intend to put our guard down now. We're set to take the streak all the way to the end of this season and into the next."

PBN Special Report: Filcosplay Freelancers

October 11, 2007

Makati (AP) -- Jubilation filled the Filcosplay Forum as the Filcosplay Freelancers celebrated yet another league victory. Despite struggling in the beginning of the season after a 0-10 slump, the Freelancers got a big break when Caerid Alt Mer purchased the team. "I saw an opportunity and took it," Alt Mer explained. "I knew that it would be a challenge to take the bottom team of the division and make something out of it, but it's been a blast. Everyone's done a great job so far this season and we're looking to reach the top."

Part of their success can be attributed to the acquisition of the Marikina Titan's former backup center,
Kero Chan. Although his starting stints were rocky, he eventually started putting up big numbers, now averaging 15.8 points and 7.8 rebounds a game. Chan was more impressive, however, during international games, scoring 22.4 points and 8.6 rebounds. He even had an impressive career high in one game against the -Lighting- Coyotes, scoring 34 points while pulling down 17 rebounds.

Despite Chan's star performances, Alt Mer has always stressed player rotation and providing everyone with playing time.
Noir Valentine, Xian ChiXian and Erlou Maturan have become solid contributors despite being reserves initially. Others, however, have not fared so well, mixing lackluster performances with brilliant ones. "Everyone has their own issues," Erlou noted. "Some are not used to this level of competition while others can't keep up with our fast-paced playing style, but we're still a young team and I think the other players will find their niche."

"I know that I've run out of gas the last few games,"
John Duquesne, the reserve center explained, "but I've been training hard and conditioning myself." Other players weren't as understanding. "I know I've been streaky, but that's only because I don't get consistent minutes," Dante May Cry, the team's reserve power forward pointed out. "I'm not being given the opportunity to prosper in the team. What's the use of all my training if I don't get a chance to show what I can do on the court?"

"With a team of 12 players, of course there'll be issues about playing time,"
Retsuya Aoyama, the reserve shooting guard explained, "but Coach Alt Mer is doing his best to give everyone playing time." Others disagree, however. "We all want to do well and put up huge numbers," Pedro Penduko, the point guard reasoned, "but it's just impossible with the limited minutes we're getting. You can try to please everyone, but I don't think they'll be too happy when we start losing more than we're winning."

"Look,"
Frap Uccino rebuked, "we're all getting our chances to shine. So far, we've been on an incredible winning streak." Despite losing a couple of international games, the team's record since Alt Mer has been an impeccable 10-0, but they haven't had to face the best teams in the division either.

Frans Pumaren (analysis) -- Although the Freelancers have had an incredible season so far, they are overburdened by players of varying skill levels who are demanding more playing time. I believe the situation is reaching critical mass, and it's only a matter of time before the team implodes.

Jojo Lastimosa (analysis) -- The Freelancers have a lot of hurdles to overcome, but Alt Mer has the leadership capability to bring them all the way to the finals. Misunderstandings will occur, but I think everyone on the team knows that they need to work together to reach the top.

Their roster is pretty solid, with a combination of solid starters and effective reserves. At this point, they stand heads and shoulders above the rest, but will they be able to maintain this line-up and level of intensity until the end of the season?

Talk About Changes...

Recently, Talkdep.com has been abuzz with suspense and anticipation, mostly due to some very big changes in Cyberdunk. Chief amongst these changes was the addition of a new equipment slot called "Under Clothing". Basically, this covers everything from T-shirts to Jock Straps to socks. With bonuses conferred that could cumulatively add up to a +25 skill bonus, the new equipment provides a big edge, but the price tags are quite steep, ranging from $210,000 to $875,000.

The second big change allowed players to purchase inactive accounts. Although quite expensive (most of the ones I've seen were worth 2000 CDP's or above), it's an easy way for beginners to catch up to the game without having to go through the usual training and upgrading. Some of these accounts were gold mines, having accumulated huge sums of money, as well.

Filcosplay Freelancers @ Cyberdunk

Team chemistry and player dynamics are key in Cyberdunk. This became very apparent when members of our website community, Cosplay.ph, started our own team called the Filcosplay Freelancers.

By assisting one another and giving everyone a voice with concern to how each game should be played, the Freelancers of Cyberdunk have instilled a great camaraderie that extends far beyond the virtual basketball court. In fact, players are now clamoring for team jerseys and the button pins of the team logo sold out in the last convention.

Right now, we've pretty much figured out our positions and are now juggling minutes between our members. It's not an easy task as we now have 12 very active members, and it's hard to pick and choose who gets to play during matches as we want to keep everyone interested and participative.

There have been discussions about forming another team, but the prospect brings up the problem of additional expenses. Also, will splitting up the team cripple one or both teams? Right now, in our division, our team has the highest value and we're on an unbroken winning streak, but all this could change once we're split up.

Perhaps the right thing to do is to simply wait until next season and find out if we can draw enough new members into the game to make a solid auxiliary team.

Marikina Routs Quezon 138-18

September 18, 2007

Marikina (AP) -- Jubilation filled The Dungeon Stadium as the Marikina Titans emerged victorious in spectacular form yesterday over the Quezon Titans. In an impressive display of teamwork, every single player scored double digits in the largest margin victory since the beginning of the season. "It was a great win," team owner J-Beet said after the game, "especially sweet because we kept the other team down to just 18 points."

"Everything just worked out today," an exhausted Steve Francis said after the game. "Everyone played their part in the victory." Francis scored 14 points, 1 steal, 2 assists and 8 rebounds in the winning effort. The man of the moment, however, was Leo Greek who scored 23 points, 7 assists, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and 1 block. "It's a good win," Greek declared after the game. "We are feeling great. We will do great things this season."

When asked how he felt about his first game with Marikina, rookie Center Kero Chan said, "It's a lot harder than in Australia and this league definitely has quality players, but luckily, some of the best are on my team." When asked if he was concerned about the dip in his stats, Chan answered, "I'm not really worried about it. All I want to do is concentrate on defense and come up with a win." Chan scored 12 points, 1 block, 3 assists and 7 rebounds in his first game for the Marikina Titans.

"Kero did well in his first game," J-Beet noted, "but the real challenge will be when we face Ian Hill of the Olangapo Supernovas on Wednesday. We're also bringing in a Lithuanian Shooting Guard Just Jura. Basically, this will be our lineup for the rest of the season."

Marikina's next opponent will be the Antipolo Guerillas, the second game in an exhausting 10-game stretch that will test this up-and-coming team.

Marikina Titans Acquire New Center

September 17, 2007

Marikina (AP) -- The premier Philippine Team, Marikina Titans, signed the rookie Philippine native, Kero Chan to their team last Monday, after playing only 5 games for the Murarie Roosters in the 5th Aussie Division of the Australian League. Despite a rocky start, Chan was able to put up good numbers, delivering 18.2 points, 2.2 blocks, 1.8 assists, and 7.8 boards while averaging a little under 30 minutes a game.

"Kero is a great asset to the team," Marikina Titans team owner J-Beet said last Tuesday. "The big, 7'4" center is our new defensive weapon. The big guy also shot almost 80% in the field and had huge numbers playing for the Roosters in 5 games. He was also very impressive during training."

Questions are being raised whether Chan will be able to hold up in a premiere league after only 5 games. "To be honest," Chan said yesterday, "I would've been more comfortable being in a developmental squad for a bit longer, but J-Beet convinced me that I'm ready. I'll try my best to live up to his expectations."

Chan will be filling in for Angel Padentro, the 6' 7" Sophomore Center from Spain, playing as a backup center behind John Lamont, a dominant starting Center who has put up great numbers including 11 double doubles and 3 triple doubles.

Similarities have been drawn with Greg Oden, the 7'0" first-round draft pick of the Portland Trailblazers who sustained a crippling injury, but Chan remains optimistic. "Fortunately, the developers haven't added injuries in yet, so I believe I'm safe."

Chan's first game with the Titans will be against the Quezon Titans, a game that's been dubbed the Clash of the Titans. "I'm excited to see how I fare in my first game with the Marikina Titans," Chan added. "I want to see how I fit in this league."

My Cyberdunk Addiciton

Ever since the Cyberdunk season started, I've been trying to scrounge up as many referrals as I can. I've invited pretty much everyone I know to at least try it with mixed results (some ended up trying it but never created a player... which had me pulling out my hair.) There's something about adding that every last bit of cyberpoints into your player that makes it very addicting. Of course, my player is far from being competitive, but it's a start, and, as they say, the journey is the real adventure, not the goal in itself. And, if it weren't difficult, it wouldn't be worth doing.

Still, in just a couple of days, my beleaguered 7'4" Center, Kero Chan, has made some headway. First of all, he's actually won some bets, and has started to earn some cash thanks to some tips from Talkdep.com. It's a small pot, but, with the right bets, can grow into sustainable income. Thanks to referrals and blogs, Kero Chan's stats have grown as well, making for a decent player (considering it's his first season):

Floor Shooting: 20
Inside Shooting: 20
3PT Shooting: 15
Dribbling: 16
Passing: 14
Stealing: 14
Rebounding: 27
Blocking: 32 (+7)
Strength: 20
Speed: 14
Jumping: 22
-----------------
Confidence: 19 (+5)
Stamina: 20 (+5)

He's a pretty good defender and rebounder, but has some offensive capabilities as well, which he proved in his first game, making all of his attempts and scoring 6 points. Unfortunately, he wasn't given much play time (only 6 minutes in the final quarter), making his stats pretty underwhelming. Hopefully, new equipment (that raised his confidence and stamina) as well as some changes in tactics will persuade the computer coach to give him more minutes.

You Can Quote Me On That

Recently, my fascination with Cyberdunk has led to my exploration of the author's other site, Focusdep.com. To my surprise, I found the site had nothing to do at all with online games, but everything to do with famous people and famous quotes.

As a writer, I found that this website was actually a useful resource for building an added dimension to my articles. The extensive lists of quotes include not only famous politicians, writers, composers and national heroes (including Jose Rizal, btw) but also contemporary actors (like Nicole Richie) and musicians (my fave being Al Yankovic or "Weird Al" as most people know him.)

It's convenient as it delivers their most famous quotes quickly and painlessly through a very user-friendly search engine. I've noticed, however, that most of their biographies and photos are still empty which might be a concern for researchers hoping to take a closer glimpse into their lives. Still, this can be easily remedied with a trip to wikipedia.

All in all,
Focusdep.com is an excellent resource for quotes. If you're a writer or an aspiring writer who wants to add some credibility or even just a splash of color to your work, you will find the site an excellent resource. From classic to contemporary, you'll have quotes aplenty at your fingertips.

Season 3 Begins!

I'm excited about my cyberdunk player, Kero Chan, finally going to his first game!

Although I started at a bad time (at the tail end of Season 2), I've managed to get up to speed by reading all the detailed articles at http://talkdep.com. As a resource for cyberdunk this site is priceless. It gives you all the information you need to start up your player without slipping up and screwing up his stats. The site is very extensive and has a lot of great features thanks to vbulletin, the same forum used by our own website at http://cosplay.ph!

If you're just starting out in cyberdunk, I highly recommend combing through this forum first as it is rich in FAQs and information as well as an opportunity to interact with other players.

Using the information found at http://talkdep.com, I decided to design a center. His stats are kind of pathetic at this point, but he's designed to be more of a role player than an all-around superstar. Therefore, I've decided to focus on Blocking, Rebounding, and Jumping. Shooting is tolerable and I will focus on building up stamina so that he can last during games.

Kero Chan (7'4" 280 lbs Filipino Center)

Floor Shooting: 19
Inside Shooting: 20
3PT Shooting: 15
Dribbling: 16
Passing: 14
Stealing: 14
Rebounding: 23
Blocking: 24 (+2)
Strength: 20
Speed: 14
Jumping: 24 (+2)
-----------------
Confidence: 14
Stamina: 15

He is currently playing for the Zaanstad Flames , an expansion league team in the bottom division (in the Netherlands.) The team is very weak in the Power Forward position but tolerable everywhere else. I'm glad I'm not carrying it for the whole team in the Center position as there is another Center who isn't controlled by the computer. I'd like to be given a contract in a competitive team, but have no illusions about it. The first season will, most likely, be spent on this team just training myself up until a team notices me.

Our upcoming game against the Enschede Ogres looks like a tough one. They have a star in the Shooting Guard position, but in the other positions, it's seems like an even match up.

If you'd like to help Kero Chan, please create a player using this referral: www.cyberdunk.com?ref=146501.

Hobbycraft Magazine Issue #2 Sighted!

As you can see, this issue's all about Model Kits, especially Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model Kits.) It's starting to trickle into stores as we speak. Check out your local national bookstore to see if it's available there :)

Basketball for the Desktop Player

For people interested in competing in basketball, but who do not possess the physique or talent, there's an online alternative. Cyberdunk (Cyberdunk.com) is a fun diversion, allowing players to grow their players, train them, buy equipment, and ultimately build a career.

What interests me most is the fact that you can also purchase your own team, sign other players, and build a franchise that you can be proud of. Best of all, the game is free and requires very little management There are other options as well such as betting on games, and 1on1 tournaments. This is done in a huge online arena featuring more than 5 billion players over several countries all over the world!

If you want to learn more about Cyberdunk, you can also check out their forum at Talkdep.com. You can also learn more about the company who produces them at Focusdep.com.
