As a result, some players were unable to train properly and have been somewhat left behind. Clamor has been rising about restarting the server since some players have gained an undue advantage as a result of the crash, but we will have to wait and see.

Filcosplay Freelancers XP Future in Doubt

Makati (AP) -- Kero Chan is issued reluctance to continue the storied franchise, Filcosplay Freelancers XP due to personal problems that has caused him to participate less and less in the coaching duties for the team. As a result, former teammate Frapuccino has frequently become the coach for the team despite managing his own team as well.
Busy schedules for both players, however, has been the cause for many losses which could have been averted. Despite this Chan seems resolute in not abandoning the team, being quoted as saying, "I will try to extend at least for another season."

Season 8 has brought a lot of new teams to the Rizal Premiere and with it, hopes that the competition will be much better. With the Freelancers XP reaching the top bracket along with the Dau Tollgates, it appears that the race for the top will not just be limited to 2 teams as it was in Division 1 during Season 7.

Makati (AP) -- Suffering their first defeat this season, the Filcosplay Freelancers XP appear to be a shadow of their former selves. Perhaps the prospect of facing some of the best teams in the league is daunting, but the team remains dedicated to their cause. Unfortunately, they will have to do so without the former stars Kero Chan and Sky Bear who have sought more lucrative offers overseas.

The Los Banos Devils announced on Talkdep earlier this week that they will be disbanding after a disappointing run this season that culminated in a 1-point loss to the underdog team, the Dumaguete Printme/activ8.
Former Filcosplay Freelancers XP members have decided to go different ways, Amuro Chan has gone on to greener pastures outside the Philippines, Kiruru has decided to return to Filcosplay Freelancers XP, while Kyojin Chan has signed a contract with the very team that put the final nail in the coffin for the Devils.

The Fate of Freelancers Classic

After 3 great seasons, the end of the road is finally here for Filcosplay Freelancers Classic. Although the fledgling club was often overshadowed by Freelancers XP, they had a great run, at times even defeating some of the favorites of the very competitive Philippine Division 2. Things were finally looking up for the club near the end, but the death knell came when Caerid decided he had had enough, turning in the ownership of the club for other pursuits.

Makati (AP) -- After a disappointing 6th season, Filcosplay Freelancers Xp lost the Gold in the last match, having to settle for the Silver after a loss to the Pampanga Pandas. It seems that things have gone downhill from there as the starters have left the team for other prospects. Kyojin Domon, Chico Martinez, and Amuro Ray have signed with the Los Banos Devils while team stars Kero Chan and Sky Bear have moved in with the talented line-up of the Negros Slashers. Even Optimus Prime and Cho Kon It have moved to different teams, leaving the team all but decimated.
But, somehow, the team has bounced back and has somehow remained undefeated so far this season. The credit for this success lies mainly in the hands of last seasons' reserves who have stepped up in a big way. Lady Geist took over most of the scoring duties coupled with the firepower of Ichigo Mashimaro and Retsuya Aoyama.
Big trades have also provided greater firepower for the team. Erlou Maturan, last season's starter, was traded for two key players: Haro Chan, a 3-point specialist and Kon Chan, a huge defensive weapon. Noir Valentine from the Freelancers Classic and Leandro Gao were also two key acquisitions.
Although the Freelancers XP have been greatly diminished, it's still a force to be reckoned with. How it will size up to other opponents will have to be determined, but one thing's for sure, Freelancer's XP isn't going down without a fight!

FC Xp holds on to win 146-145 over Devils

Makati (AP) -- The Filcosplay Freelancers Xp pulled off a much-needed victory over the Los Banos Devils that nearly got away from them in the last quarter. With one quarter remaining, Xp held a 13 point lead, but the Devils were far from finished. They pulled off a last-minute rally, capitalizing on the exhausted FC Xp stars Kero Chan and Sky Bear and, at one point, was ahead by 5 points with only two minutes remaining.
But, heroics came in from the bench in the unlikely form of Ichigo Mashimaro. With only seconds remaining, the Devil's Rod Munch scored an inside basket to seemingly put the game away, but Ichigo never gave up and eventually scored the game-winning basket with only 19 seconds remaining. It was Ichigo's only 2 points in the final quarter, but those points were cruicial in their victory over the Devils.

"The guys have been playing hard all season, but eventually, the fatigue sets in," Coach Chan explained. "We tried our best, but they [Ong Outlaws] were just too strong to face head-on."
"Rest assured," Chan added, "that our team is still very strong and we're determined to stay on top no matter what." Tomorrow, the Freelancers Xp faced a diminished Dau Tollgates who, despite moving their best talent to the Ong Outlaws, is still a force to be reckoned with. "We don't underestimate anyone in this league and the Tollgates are no exception, but expect one hell of a battle."

Philippine Division 2 Next Season
One of the more interesting topics in Talkdep.com, the official forums of Cyberdunk, is the influx of new teams in the Philippine Leagues, particularly in Division 2 next season. Here's a rundown of the possible human teams next year and how they stack up:
Los Banos Devils - Currently a 28.5 team with some good 30ish players. Shouldn't be too much of a threat though.
Bocaue Firecrackers - Currently a 22 team with mostly 20ish players. Cakewalk unless they start recruiting heavily.
Ivalice Blades - Currently a 33.5 team with some powerhouses including a 50+ value player and 3 40+ players. Could be a serious contender next season.
Greenbelt Gimikeros - Currently a 31.5 team that shows great potential. Many high 30+value players and they are still recruiting.
Boracay Whitesands - Currently a 23.5 team with a single high 30+ player. They have very sound builds, however, and could recruit more people to make them a formidable force next season.
Filcosplay Freelancers Xp - One of the favorites next season especially after trouncing the higher-valued Dau Tollgates.
Filcosplay Freelancers - A quality team that has a few ailing players that have gone inactive. Needs to regroup as next season promises to be a much more competitive one.
Dau Tollgates - Currently a 43 value team. Will most likely be the highest-valued team next season, but a stunning loss to the Filcosplay Freelancers XP puts their tactics and player builds into question.

"We're geared up to finish this season strong," Kero Chan stated. "Our roster has been volatile lately, with a couple of players leaving for the newly formed Mandaluyong Antarticans, but we're still a strong squad that will make waves next season."
Despite a heartbreaking loss to the Manila Lumpias in the Philippine Cup, Kero Chan remains hopeful. "Our boys are training hard and we'll aim for the top next season, but the competition will be fierce." There's no doubt that the Freelancers Xp will advance to Division 2 next season, but will the squad have what it takes when they face off with much more experienced teams? Only time will tell.

March 9, 2008 :: CyberdunkMakati (AP) -- The Filcosplay Freelancers Xp welcomed the arrival of Amare Studemaire, an experienced Center from Maccabi Tel Aviv. "Amare will provide additional scoring as well as rebounding support," Kero Chan explained. "He's also surprisingly quick for a big man and his scoring ability and great vertical leap make him a threat in the paint."
In his last season for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Amare had an average of 24.7 points, 1.1 steals, 6.4 assists, and 8.2 boards. "What he needs to work on now is defense," Kero noted. "Noir Valentine was an exceptional defender in the paint, but I have no doubt Amare will step up." Noir Valentine moved to the Filcosplay Freelancers just days before Amare's signing.
It turns out, the move worked out well for both teams. Noir Valentine recently had a stellar performance where she had a career high 8 blocks while capturing 4 MOM's (Man of the Match Awards). She is also scoring much better, averaging 20.7 points per game (compared to just 12.2 points per game with her former squad). On the other hand, Amare Studemaire has won 3 MOM's of his own since joining Freelancers XP including a game where he scored a career high 58 points!
"I'm glad the trade turned out great for both teams," Caerid Alt Mer, the coach of the Freelancers stated. "Noir is now one of my star players while Amare is a perfect match for the Freelancers XP. Both teams are looking forward to ending this season strong."

Season 4 Report
With the Cyberdunk 4th season winding down, the Filcosplay Freelancers Xp are still on top of the Philippine Division 5 Rankings with an untarnished 42-0 record. Although they were knocked out of the Philippine Cup, they're still contenders in the Ancestorian Cup, barely getting into the Final 4.

Talkdep About Championships
New to the discussions in Talkdep.com is that of Junior and Senior Championships that is slated to be implemented next season. Basically, the format will include 48 teams entering until all comers are knocked out in 16 stages. Freelancers XP Signs New Player

Makati (AP) -- The Filcosplay Freelancers Xp welcomed Kel Ryokuzen to the team after signing a 1-year contract with a $50,000 signing bonus. Kel Ryokuzen had previously played his rookie season for a Division 6 Japanese Team: the Kashiwa Rattlesnakes. Scoring an average of 17 points and 11 rebounds and 1 block per game, he placed in the top 10 of the division in points, blocks, and rebounds.
Kero Chan , the manager and playing coach for Filcosplay Freelancers Xp, quickly snatched up this new talent from the free agent pool. "He's an outstanding addition to the team," Chan noted. "His impressive scoring coupled with good fundamentals will allow him to provide support for players like myself, Xian Chixian, and Noir Valentine." There is concern that his height, a paltry 6 feet and 5 inches, may be an issue especially since he will be playing in the power forward position. Commenting on this, Chan stated, "Yes, it is an issue, but I feel it also lends him some versatility. I can easily put him in as SF or even one of the guard positions if necessary. He's another great option in tight games."
In his debut game with the Freelancers XP, Ryokuzen scored an impressive 27 points in the teams' rout of the Calbayog Elves (192-22). "I'm just happy to play with a good team and great manager," Ryokuzen commented after the game. "I know that I won't be getting the same minutes I did with my former team, but I'm just glad Chan-san gave me this great opportunity to play with his team."
