Marikina (AP) -- Jubilation filled The Dungeon Stadium as the Marikina Titans emerged victorious in spectacular form yesterday over the Quezon Titans. In an impressive display of teamwork, every single player scored double digits in the largest margin victory since the beginning of the season. "It was a great win," team owner J-Beet said after the game, "especially sweet because we kept the other team down to just 18 points."
"Everything just worked out today," an exhausted Steve Francis said after the game. "Everyone played their part in the victory." Francis scored 14 points, 1 steal, 2 assists and 8 rebounds in the winning effort. The man of the moment, however, was Leo Greek who scored 23 points, 7 assists, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and 1 block. "It's a good win," Greek declared after the game. "We are feeling great. We will do great things this season."
When asked how he felt about his first game with Marikina, rookie Center Kero Chan said, "It's a lot harder than in Australia and this league definitely has quality players, but luckily, some of the best are on my team." When asked if he was concerned about the dip in his stats, Chan answered, "I'm not really worried about it. All I want to do is concentrate on defense and come up with a win." Chan scored 12 points, 1 block, 3 assists and 7 rebounds in his first game for the Marikina Titans.
"Kero did well in his first game," J-Beet noted, "but the real challenge will be when we face Ian Hill of the Olangapo Supernovas on Wednesday. We're also bringing in a Lithuanian Shooting Guard Just Jura. Basically, this will be our lineup for the rest of the season."
Marikina's next opponent will be the Antipolo Guerillas, the second game in an exhausting 10-game stretch that will test this up-and-coming team.

Marikina Titans Acquire New Center
September 17, 2007
Marikina (AP) -- The premier Philippine Team, Marikina Titans, signed the rookie Philippine native, Kero Chan to their team last Monday, after playing only 5 games for the Murarie Roosters in the 5th Aussie Division of the Australian League. Despite a rocky start, Chan was able to put up good numbers, delivering 18.2 points, 2.2 blocks, 1.8 assists, and 7.8 boards while averaging a little under 30 minutes a game.
"Kero is a great asset to the team," Marikina Titans team owner J-Beet said last Tuesday. "The big, 7'4" center is our new defensive weapon. The big guy also shot almost 80% in the field and had huge numbers playing for the Roosters in 5 games. He was also very impressive during training."
Questions are being raised whether Chan will be able to hold up in a premiere league after only 5 games. "To be honest," Chan said yesterday, "I would've been more comfortable being in a developmental squad for a bit longer, but J-Beet convinced me that I'm ready. I'll try my best to live up to his expectations."
Chan will be filling in for Angel Padentro, the 6' 7" Sophomore Center from Spain, playing as a backup center behind John Lamont, a dominant starting Center who has put up great numbers including 11 double doubles and 3 triple doubles.
Similarities have been drawn with Greg Oden, the 7'0" first-round draft pick of the Portland Trailblazers who sustained a crippling injury, but Chan remains optimistic. "Fortunately, the developers haven't added injuries in yet, so I believe I'm safe."
Chan's first game with the Titans will be against the Quezon Titans, a game that's been dubbed the Clash of the Titans. "I'm excited to see how I fare in my first game with the Marikina Titans," Chan added. "I want to see how I fit in this league."

My Cyberdunk Addiciton
Ever since the Cyberdunk season started, I've been trying to scrounge up as many referrals as I can. I've invited pretty much everyone I know to at least try it with mixed results (some ended up trying it but never created a player... which had me pulling out my hair.) There's something about adding that every last bit of cyberpoints into your player that makes it very addicting. Of course, my player is far from being competitive, but it's a start, and, as they say, the journey is the real adventure, not the goal in itself. And, if it weren't difficult, it wouldn't be worth doing.
Still, in just a couple of days, my beleaguered 7'4" Center, Kero Chan, has made some headway. First of all, he's actually won some bets, and has started to earn some cash thanks to some tips from Talkdep.com. It's a small pot, but, with the right bets, can grow into sustainable income. Thanks to referrals and blogs, Kero Chan's stats have grown as well, making for a decent player (considering it's his first season):
Floor Shooting: 20
Inside Shooting: 20
3PT Shooting: 15
Dribbling: 16
Passing: 14
Stealing: 14
Rebounding: 27
Blocking: 32 (+7)
Strength: 20
Speed: 14
Jumping: 22
-----------------
Confidence: 19 (+5)
Stamina: 20 (+5)
He's a pretty good defender and rebounder, but has some offensive capabilities as well, which he proved in his first game, making all of his attempts and scoring 6 points. Unfortunately, he wasn't given much play time (only 6 minutes in the final quarter), making his stats pretty underwhelming. Hopefully, new equipment (that raised his confidence and stamina) as well as some changes in tactics will persuade the computer coach to give him more minutes.

You Can Quote Me On That
Recently, my fascination with Cyberdunk has led to my exploration of the author's other site, Focusdep.com. To my surprise, I found the site had nothing to do at all with online games, but everything to do with famous people and famous quotes.
As a writer, I found that this website was actually a useful resource for building an added dimension to my articles. The extensive lists of quotes include not only famous politicians, writers, composers and national heroes (including Jose Rizal, btw) but also contemporary actors (like Nicole Richie) and musicians (my fave being Al Yankovic or "Weird Al" as most people know him.)
It's convenient as it delivers their most famous quotes quickly and painlessly through a very user-friendly search engine. I've noticed, however, that most of their biographies and photos are still empty which might be a concern for researchers hoping to take a closer glimpse into their lives. Still, this can be easily remedied with a trip to wikipedia.
All in all, Focusdep.com is an excellent resource for quotes. If you're a writer or an aspiring writer who wants to add some credibility or even just a splash of color to your work, you will find the site an excellent resource. From classic to contemporary, you'll have quotes aplenty at your fingertips.

Season 3 Begins!
I'm excited about my cyberdunk player, Kero Chan, finally going to his first game!
Although I started at a bad time (at the tail end of Season 2), I've managed to get up to speed by reading all the detailed articles at http://talkdep.com. As a resource for cyberdunk this site is priceless. It gives you all the information you need to start up your player without slipping up and screwing up his stats. The site is very extensive and has a lot of great features thanks to vbulletin, the same forum used by our own website at http://cosplay.ph!
If you're just starting out in cyberdunk, I highly recommend combing through this forum first as it is rich in FAQs and information as well as an opportunity to interact with other players.
Using the information found at http://talkdep.com, I decided to design a center. His stats are kind of pathetic at this point, but he's designed to be more of a role player than an all-around superstar. Therefore, I've decided to focus on Blocking, Rebounding, and Jumping. Shooting is tolerable and I will focus on building up stamina so that he can last during games.
Kero Chan (7'4" 280 lbs Filipino Center)
Floor Shooting: 19
Inside Shooting: 20
3PT Shooting: 15
Dribbling: 16
Passing: 14
Stealing: 14
Rebounding: 23
Blocking: 24 (+2)
Strength: 20
Speed: 14
Jumping: 24 (+2)
-----------------
Confidence: 14
Stamina: 15
He is currently playing for the Zaanstad Flames , an expansion league team in the bottom division (in the Netherlands.) The team is very weak in the Power Forward position but tolerable everywhere else. I'm glad I'm not carrying it for the whole team in the Center position as there is another Center who isn't controlled by the computer. I'd like to be given a contract in a competitive team, but have no illusions about it. The first season will, most likely, be spent on this team just training myself up until a team notices me.
Our upcoming game against the Enschede Ogres looks like a tough one. They have a star in the Shooting Guard position, but in the other positions, it's seems like an even match up.
If you'd like to help Kero Chan, please create a player using this referral: www.cyberdunk.com?ref=146501.

Hobbycraft Magazine Issue #2 Sighted!
Basketball for the Desktop Player
For people interested in competing in basketball, but who do not possess the physique or talent, there's an online alternative. Cyberdunk (Cyberdunk.com) is a fun diversion, allowing players to grow their players, train them, buy equipment, and ultimately build a career.
What interests me most is the fact that you can also purchase your own team, sign other players, and build a franchise that you can be proud of. Best of all, the game is free and requires very little management There are other options as well such as betting on games, and 1on1 tournaments. This is done in a huge online arena featuring more than 5 billion players over several countries all over the world!
If you want to learn more about Cyberdunk, you can also check out their forum at Talkdep.com. You can also learn more about the company who produces them at Focusdep.com.
If you think this game is for you, register here.

Hobbycraft Magazine Goes Monthly!
We've just discussed it with Psicom Publishing, and we are going monthly, finally! The second issue has been released and should be out in stores as we speak. Also, expect our 3rd issue to be even better than the first two, as we are tackling Action Figures! :)
